An important part of any drive is the depth it is dug out and the depth and the quality of the road stone (or hardcore) used.
Our block paving drives are dug out at least 9″. We bring in 5″ of MOT Type I road stone, which when compacted reduces to 4″. We supply and lay 2″ of sharp sand.
We can supply a variety of blocks, either made of concrete or clay, standard brick sized pavers or rumbled cobbles. Clay blocks are not so well publicised, but their advantage is that they do not fade like concrete products tend to do after time.
The other main part of any drive is to ensure that all edgings and the edge blocks are secured with concrete to prevent any movement.
We offer our block paving services in and around Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, and Startford Upon Avon.
DRIVEWAY COMPLETED IN KINETON IN MAY 2016
Drive project completed in Kineton in May 2016.
The original driveway was old tarmac and grass. Our client chose Tobermore Shannon blocks in Heather with a charcoal path and border. A charcoal key kerb was fitted to both sides of the drive.
To break up a very large area of block paving, we laid the front on the diagonal and the side at right angles to the house. Deep drainage channel was fitted across the entrance and we altered the angle of the tarmac entrance from the highway to help avoid flash flooding.
We laid 350 square metres of Tobermore block paving, over 700 charcoal key kerbs and 40 square metres of tarmac. The materials were purchased from E H Smith in Shirley, with the help of Martin Kerlin, Glen Brickley and Andy Cartmel, who did a great job of super-imposing styles of block paving over photographs, making choosing the blocks that much easier.
We, and our client, are very pleased with the finished result.
DRIVEWAY COMPLETED IN KENILWORTH IN JUNE 2016
The original drive was tarmac with old concrete round-top edgings. This was replaced with Stonemarket Avenu block paving in colour charcoal with an Ampliar driveway edging. At the entrance, we laid a 2 metre deep section of Stonemarket Millstone setts, in colour Vienna. The setts were secured using a jointing compound that comes with the setts.
We think that the colours and style chosen enhance the property and our clients are delighted with the results.
